Lamar County and Greater Atlanta Christian are co-No. 1’s in Class AA in the most recent Georgia Sports Writers Association Prep Football Poll.The Trojans were already ranked No. 1 by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.This is believed to be the first time the Trojans have ever been ranked No. 1 in the state writers’ poll. The Georgia High School Football Historians Association doesn’t have a detailed history of writers’ rankings prior to 2005. The GHSFA does have an extensive history of the Journal-Constitution rankings, and the Trojans had never been No. 1 before this year. Prior to this season, the Trojans were ranked No. 2 in the AP preseason poll in 2012 and by the Journal-Constitution during the 1985 season.The Trojans (5-0) jumped to the top spot following Lovett’s overtime loss to Washington County. Lamar County earned eight first-place votes after it beat Northeast. Greater Atlanta Christian also received eight first-place votes.
