Southern Rivers Energy is inviting the community to take part in a local food drive as part of Electric Cooperative Week of Volunteerism, Oct. 1-8. Last year, Georgia’s EMCs and its affiliates launched Electric Cooperative Week of Volunteerism to highlight EMCs collective volunteerism through a statewide food drive and individual volunteer projects.Southern Rivers Energy is asking members to take part in its local food drive for the Hope Tree Foundation, a local food pantry serving Lamar and surrounding counties and the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank in Macon.Canned goods or non-perishable food items can be dropped off at Southern Rivers Energy or at the Chamber from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Monday, Oct. 10.
