State patrol finalizes report on bus incident

The Georgia State Patrol has finalized its report on a crash precipitated by a fight among students on a Lamar County school bus here Dec. 16. ******************** NOTICE: This story and photo(s) are under copyright. They may not be republished or disseminated in any form or format – including social media – without explicit permission. ********************* Six students were evaluated at Upson Regional Medical Center after the incident but not seriously injured. The bus was driven by 65-year-old Thomas James Dziedzic who pulled off the west shoulder of Ga. Hwy. 7 near Grove Street while attempting to break up a fight. Dziedzic told troopers he heard one of the students had a knife. After stopping the bus, he inadvertently left it in gear and it rolled off the shoulder at a low rate of speed. The students evaluated for injury were Omarieon Allen, 15; Zy’Yonia Tyus, 13; Ashanti Penn, 14; Makara Davis, 11; Crystal Kelly, 13; and Ambreia Malcom, 11. The bus suffered only minor damage.
