State playoff game here next Saturday

Winning their 12th in a row for the 2nd time this season, Lamar County advances to the Region 4AA tournament championship game Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at Northeast High School in Macon after handily defeating Greene County 72-48 in the semi-finals Friday. Camden Foster led the Trojans with 31 points while Quintavious Lackey netted 10. The win also earns Lamar the right to host a first round state playoff game next Saturday against either Pierce County. The Trojans’ (24-3) opponent tonight will be the Northeast Raiders who stopped Lamar’s first dozen game streak with a 77-70 win here a month ago. Northeast also beat Lamar in Macon 51-50 at the beginning of the season. The Raiders (22-2 and ranked 6th in the state in the GACA coaches poll and 8th in the AJC writers poll) reached the final by beating Pike County 80-51 Friday night. Greene County and Pike County will meet today in the boys consolation game at 5:30 p.m. for third and fourth seeds in the state tournament. Northeast and Morgan County will meet for the girls region championship tonight at seven o’clock. Southwest Macon and Putnam County play in the girls consolation game at four o’clock.
