State playoff soccer update: Girls win 7-0. Boys win 9-4

The LC Trojans and Lady Trojans will host another playoff doubleheader here Friday night when both teams take on Worth County in the first round of the GHSA Class AA state soccer tournament. Both Lamar teams are undefeated in region play and earned #1 seeds for the playoffs. The Worth teams are #4 seeds.

The tournament matches will be played at Trojan Field.

The Lady Trojans (13-4, 8-0) battle the Lady Rams (8-9-1, 2-6) at 5:30 p.m. LC is ranked #6 in the most recent poll. The top five are Lovett, Bremen, Pace Academy, Jeff Davis and Model. LC is followed by Fitzgerald, Fannin County, Bleckley County and Callaway.

After the girls match, the Trojans (10-5, 8-0) will take on the Rams (9-8-1, 2-6). Neither boys team is ranked though LC has been in and out of the top 10 over the course of the season.

With a win, the Lady Trojans will advance to round two and host the Dade County-Callaway winner April 20. Should the Trojans advance, they will host Callaway-Model winner April 21. Should both Callaway teams win, another doubleheader could be played here next week.

Check back often tonight for realtime scoring updates from the sidelines.
