A Thomaston radio station is seeking zoning to erect a 312-foot tower on Parker Branch Road. Jack Smith is seeking the zoning special exception for WTGA radio which desires the tower for radio transmission and to host cell phone transmitters. According to tax records, Smith owns a 6.76-acre tract on Parker Branch Road. Smith’s mailing address is listed as Liberty Trace in Milner. The Board of Appeals will hear the request at its meeting on August 8 at 8 a.m. at the courthouse. If granted, the special exception must be approved by the Lamar County commission. The issue is currently on the commission’s agenda for its 7 p.m. meeting on August 21, also at the courthouse.
