Mr. Edward Weldon Stokes, age 73, of Barnesville passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 in a Griffin healthcare facility.A native of Macon, he was the son of the late Mr. Edgar Weldon Stokes and the late Mrs. Frances Irene Harper Stokes. Mr. Stokes was also preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Jean White Stokes. He was retired as an upholstery worker. Mr. Stokes was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Thomaston and Rock Springs Church in Milner.Survivors include his children, Rhonda Stokes, Debbie Campbell, Kellie Stokes and Courtney (and Ellis ‘Junior’) Giles, all of Barnesville; grandchildren, Dustin (and Tawnie) Campbell, Brandi (and Michael) Nicholson, Chelsea Stokes, Corry Hugh and Joshua Hugh, all of Barnesville; five great-grandchildren; one brother, William (and Ethel) Stokes of Macon; and two sisters, Louise Ray and Gwen (and Fred) Dixon, all of Macon.Funeral services for Mr. Edward Weldon Stokes were conducted Monday, Feb. 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Attaway officiating. Interment was held Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the New Elim Baptist Church Cemetery in Macon.
