According to a Clery Act alert disseminated by the school, a Gordon State College student was hospitalized with a laceration to the head after an attempted carjacking/armed robbery in the Alumni Hall parking lot on campus Wednesday night.
At about 8:45 p.m., the male student was walking to a vehicle in the parking lot when a red pickup truck pulled up, blocking in the vehicle. When the student exited the vehicle he was hit in the head with a gun.
One of several males in the truck attempted to snatch a necklace off the victim and steal his cellphone. The perpetrator then got in the student’s vehicle and attempted to drive off but got stuck on a mound of dirt.
The carjacker then ran back to the pickup truck which fled on College Drive toward downtown Barnesville.
