The Lamar County Diamond Trojans started their summer baseball on a high note last week going 3-0 in the Diamond Dog Challenge baseball tournament hosted by Mary Persons in Forsyth.Lamar, whose starting lineup was decimated by graduation losing eight of nine regulars, beat AA Manchester, AAAA Stockbridge and AAAAA Lovejoy. The young Trojans got a no decision against Jackson when that game was canceled due to rain. The junior varsity fared well too splitting a pair of games with Westside Macon and Mary Persons. This week, Lamar, along with Mary Persons, will host the 6th annual Bringing The Heat Central Georgia Tournament. 13 varsity teams and three JV’s will compete in the pool format tournament that runs Wednesday through Friday at Mary Persons and Aldora Field. Four championship round games will be played Saturday at Aldora Field.
