Summer storm causes power outages

Southern Rivers Energy crews are working throughout the system to repair damage from last night’s storms and restore power to more than 1,000 members. High winds and lightning from the storm system that came through last night knocked out power for more than 1500 of our members. Crews have been working since late last night to restore power and are dealing with downed trees and power lines, broken poles and lightning damage. Outages are scattered throughout the system with the majority located in Monroe, Upson and Crawford counties and have been reduced to approximately 1,000 as of 8:45 a.m. Phone lines are open; please call 770-358-1383 or 877-358-1383 to report an outage. Crews hope to have power restored by early afternoon. If your home suffered structural damage, it may prevent crews from being able to restore your power until you make the necessary repairs to your house.
