A suspect in multiple area armed robberies has been jailed.From Lt. Mike Richardson, Griffin Police Dept.:During the evening hours of Thursday, January 9, 2014, Investigators from the Griffin Police Department arrested Wydarius Henley, age 32, of Griffin, Georgia for multiple counts of armed robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and theft by taking. He was taken to the Spalding County jail where he is still being held at of the time of this release.On December 20, 2013 the Griffin Police Department (GPD) issued a press release regarding two armed robberies that occurred at Broadway Grocery and Deli seeking information. Just this past week GPD has responded to two additional armed robberies, one at the Shell Gas Station on North Expressway and a second person on person armed robbery last night in the parking lot of Broadway Grocery and Deli. Leads generated from the robbery that occurred last date led Investigators to identify a suspect, Wydaruis Henley. While checking an area based on information the Investigators developed Lt. Tony Thomason, Inv. Todd Harris and Inv. Mike Morris located Henley coming out of what looked like an abandon residence. Henley and the residence were secured during which time Sgt. Karen Yancy and Cpl. Kelly McKinney were able to obtain a search warrant for the location, 204 N. 1st. Street. As result of the search warrant Investigators located clothing and a weapon that matched the description used by the suspect in the armed robberies along with identification belonging to Henley. Further investigation led to information and evidence that linked Henley to a residential burglary on N. 2nd Street and a commercial burglary at McCracken’s Coin Laundry on W. McIntosh Rd. this past Saturday. Additional charges pending result of further investigation.
