Reading the handwriting on the wall correctly, Continuum Legal Group attorneys Sean Smith and John Richard stepped down as legal counsel for the Lamar County Regional Solid Waste Authority (SWA) effective at 1:30 p.m. today. The resignation came in an e-mailed letter reproduced herewith.
Former SWA board chairman Skip Seda also resigned via letter (also reproduced herewith).
At a called meeting tonight, the Milner city council affirmed it appointment of mayor Craig Timmons to the new SWA board. It also voted unanimously to appoint environmentalist Alana Olson to its second post on the SWA board.
The new authority will meet Friday to appoint a fifth member. That meeting is set for 6 p.m. at the courthouse.

I want to say thank you to Comissoners Ashley Giles, Truman Boyles and County Engineer Director of Public Works Edward, (I am sorry but I don’t remember his last name) for coming out a meeting with me concerning the water run off, in the rain. We can’t do a lot to correct all the problems, due to limits of right a ways. Thank you and my neighbor Mr. Henry Brooks for spending your time and efforts.
Speaking with Commissioner Boyles about the WSA problems, he ask for us to have a little patience and give the new panel time to spend work out the problems with the WSA. They are going to have their hands full. Not living in the town limits of Barnesville or Milner, isolated in the county, I wish you the best in clearing up this mess. I am willing to help if I may, answer phones. run copies, etc. I don’t want to be involved other than menial chores. Thanks again
Sorry, that should be SWA on lieu of WSA, no pund intended.
