Longtime City of Barnesville employee Tammy York has been appointed as the city’s chief financial officer. She began her career with the city 17 years ago as billing clerk. York’s most recent position was city accountant.
As CFO, York is responsible for financial reporting, accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and grants. She will ensure the fiscal health of the city is maintained. She will also remain as the city’s personnel director.
“Tammy is an integral part of city operations. She has proven herself as a good steward of the city’s financial resources. She was instrumental in improving the city’s bond rating and reissuing the bonds at a lower interest rate. The city will realize a cost savings of more than $6 million dollars over the life of the bonds,” city manager Tim Turner said.
Mrs. York holds a BBA degree with a major in accounting from the University of Georgia.
