Teen making miraculous recovery after being crushed

Nothing short of a miracle. That’s how Pamela Gosman describes the recovery of her 18-year-old son, Matthew Gosman, who was virtually crushed inside his car in a one-car accident on Old Highway 41 north of Milner Dec. 2. Matthew’s list of injuries is enough to make one cringe: two broken arms, broken leg, broken hip, collapsed lung, broken jaw, broken nose and a right arm that was nearly severed from his body. ’He has had 13-14 surgeries on his arm alone but they managed to save it,’ Pamela said. Matthew was a patient at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon from the date of the accident through January 27. Since that time he has been undergoing rehabilitation at Shepherd Spinal Center in Atlanta. ’He did not suffer any paralysis but he is having to learn how to walk again,’ Pamela said of her son. Matthew crashed after he hit a mailbox and his car flipped. Thankfully, he was wearing his seatbelt. That fact likely saved his life. ’God has brought him a long, long way. He is to be discharged March 25 and they have promised him he will walk out,’ Pamela concluded.
