Tenney signs to run at Columbus State

By Walter Geiger Sydney Tenney has signed a grant-in-aid to run track and cross country at Columbus State University for coach J.D. Evilsizer who has built a running powerhouse there. CSU competes in the Peach Belt Conference (NCAA Div. II). Tenney, the daughter of Stacy and Scott Tenney, also excels at soccer. She has been the MVP of the LC cross country team for four straight years. She holds virtually every record at the school including the best time in school history with a 19:49. She has been on the Macon Telegraph’s all-region team for four years and was 4AA runner of the year in 2011. She has multiple awards from Footlocker. Sydney won the Buggython 5K in 2012 and 2013 and the 10K in 2014. Sydney is the granddaughter of longtime area educators Betty and Robert Tenney and Sandra Ussery and the late Russell Ussery, all of Barnesville.
