The Merchant’s Committee for the Barnesville-Lamar County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a new Cruise In event to encourage more visitors to come to Barnesville during the lazy days of summer. Beginning this Saturday evening May 22nd from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and continuing through October on the fourth Saturday of each month, the event will feature classic cars, motorcycles, trucks and other custom vehicles displayed in the First National Bank parking lot. Entertainment will include door prizes for registered participants, a 50/50 raffle open to participants and the public as well as great tunes from the past. An “Old School” Sock Hop is scheduled as an added activity for the August Cruise In. “This is a fun family event for all ages sponsored by our local merchants and the Chamber of Commerce.” said Amanda Rose, President of the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce. “The Merchants Committee representatives have done a great job in getting the word out through car club websites and providing flyers to participants of other car shows and cruise ins throughout middle Georgia. Several merchants will be running specials on their services and products and extending their business hours for these events.”, added Rose.
