The day everyone has been waiting has finally arrived. The Rock Ranch Hot Air Balloon Rally will launch today and is destined to be bigger and better than ever. This year’s balloon rally is presented by Cronic Chevrolet of Griffin and will feature balloon pilots from throughout the southeast competing for a wide array of exciting prizes. The balloons will first launch around 8:30 a.m., well before the gates open, but guests will be allowed to come into the parking lot and watch the launch. The second launch will take place at approximately 6 p.m. and the picturesque Ferrell Gas ‘balloon glow’ will begin at dark. For a minimal fee, guests will also be able, weather permitting, to take tethered rides in a balloon throughout the day. But, balloons will not be the only flying machines in the air Saturday. The Flying Griffins and their remote control airplanes will take over one of The Rock Ranch’s pastures and perform for guests. This day’s events will not be complete without the annual Moo Cow Bikers/Victory Junction Gang charity motorcycle ride, which originates at Great South Harley Davidson in Newnan and parades through The Rock Ranch gates around noon. There will also be a special 4 p.m. tea for ladies of the Red Hat Society and others. In addition to Saturday’s featured attractions, The Rock Ranch will also have its old favorites, including slide hill, pedal carts, pedal boats, the petting zoo, the train, and more. Admission to The Rock Ranch is $14 per person and $2-off coupons are available at participating Chick-fil-A restaurants. Children 3 and under are admitted free. Military families, with a valid military i.d., are always admitted for half price. Fall Family Fun Days hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and continue each Saturday through Nov. 14.
