Losers no more. Those were the words Trojan head coach Jason Strickland had for his team as they gathered on the 50-yard line at their brand, spanking new Trojan Field after routing the Spalding Jaguars 31-0 Friday night. The win was all the more sweet in that Strickland’s defense shut out the Spalding offense after several Spalding players had boasted in the days leading up to the game that they would hang 50 points on the new Lamar scoreboard. The Trojan defense rendered Jag quarterback phenom Casey Moody ineffective and he was benched late in the game. Lamar got on the board early when Devin Couch picked off a Moody pass and took it to the house for the first ever TD at Trojan Field. The Trojans never looked back and controlled the game throughout. Lamar travels to Forsyth next week to take on the Mary Persons Bulldogs who were 38-14 winners over Morgan County Friday night.
