A third grader called in a bomb threat to a school facility here Tuesday, Feb. 15, prompting school system officials to notify parents.
Third graders are instructed at Lamar County Elementary School.
The following is the message communicated by the school system:
This afternoon, a Lamar County 3rd grade student called in a bomb threat. An assessment by local law enforcement found no evidence of legitimacy, a plan, access, or the ability to carry out harm to others. The student has been removed from school while the matter is investigated further. Lamar County Schools and local law enforcement consider all matters of safety a priority. The student will be disciplined according to district policies. Legal charges will be pursued.
