Thomas “T.J.” Jackson VanHouten, Sr. Mr. Thomas “T.J.” Jackson VanHouten, Sr., age 81, passed away Sunday, September 08, 2019. Memorial services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday Afternoon, September 12, 2019 in the Great Hall of the First United Methodist Church of Eatonton. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the service time. Burial will take place 2:00 Pm, Friday afternoon, September 13, 2019 at Fredonia Congregational Methodist Church in Barnesville, GA. Mr. VanHouten was born on February 13, 1938 in Culloden, GA to the late Jackson Garrett VanHouten and the late Gracie Kate Smith VanHouten. T.J. loved fishing, bird hunting and had a passion for light construction. He also loved scuba diving and reading. He was a volunteer firefighter and a member of the masons. He was an Eagle Scout who also was awarded the Vigil for the Order of the Arrow. He was a member of the First United Methodist church where he served on the staff pastor relationship committee and the nominating committee. He was preceded in death by his brothers Stanley VanHouten and David VanHouten, as well as his daughter Zackie VanHouten Boen. T.J. is survived by his wife Ann VanHouten of Eatonton, son Thomas Jackson VanHouten, Jr. and wife Mistie of Burleson, TX, sisters Kathey Turner and husband Wendell of Zebulon, GA, and Marsha VanHouten of Kingsland, GA, brother Marcus VanHouten and wife Randee of Monroe, GA, as sister Denise Dixon and husband Eddie of Acworth, GA, sisters-in-law Linda VanHouten of Goshen, KY, Mary VanHouten of Butler, GA, Emily Brown and Faye Walker and husband Bobby both of Barnesville, GA, grandchildren Thomas Jackson VanHouten III, Maxwell Reed, and Samantha Ann.
