Three arrested in Runaway Lake murder

Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of 25-year-old Kevin Donald Harmon whose body was found at a vacant lot in Runaway Lake subdivision late Monday. Capt. Tony Ranieri of the Spalding County S. O. issued the following release on the killing Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. He did not release the manner of Harmon’s death. A Griffin man was found dead yesterday at the Runaway Lake Sub Division located on Rehobeth Road in Eastern Spalding County. According to Sheriff Dee Stewart investigators began working this case around 5:30 a.m. on N. Walkersmill Road when units were called to that location reference to a person stabbed. After the units arrived they requested an investigator. The person that had been stabbed was Air Lifted to an Atlanta Hospital where he underwent surgery and is in stable condition. Once the investigators arrived on the scene and began doing interviews with witnesses, and processing the alledged crime scene, it was determined that the stories being told were not adding up to what was seen at that alledged crime scene. Stewart stated that the investigators continued to talk to witnesses in order to get to the truth. After a few hours into the investigation a witness came forward and wanted to ‘tell the truth’ about what happened. Once that story was told, that lead investigators to the City of Griffin. After determining the location was in the jurisdiction of the Griffin Police Department, investigators with the Sheriff’s Office met with investigators of the Griffin Police and the case was turned over to the Police. During the questioning with Police it was learned the events told about the incident happening in the city was not true. Investigators with the City and County worked together to learn more of what happened during the early morning hours, which led investigators to the body of 25 year old Kevin Donald Harmon of Griffin. Mr. Harmon was found on a vacant lot at the Runaway Lake Subdivision. He has since been sent to the Georgia State Crime Lab for an autopsy which is scheduled for tomorrow. Investigators have arrested 17 year old Todd Eric Jones of 701 Carver Road Griffin and 18 year old Justin Cody Tuggle of 729 N. Walkersmill Road Griffin. Both suspects are being charged with Murder, Felony Murder and Armed Robbery, they are being held at the Spalding County Detention Center awaiting their first appearance hearings later today before the Magistrate Court. Stewart also stated that 30 year old Monica Diane Martin of 940 N. Walkersmill Road was also arrested for Making False Statements to Investigators. Martin is also being held at the Detention Center. The investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected to be made.
