Tigers claw Highlanders; punch JCWS ticket

For the second day in a row Gordon took an early lead in the NJCAA East Central Regional best of three baseball series. And for the second day in a row, the never say die Tigers off Chattanooga State scratched and clawed their way back into the game and took a late lead earning a victory and taking the series two games to one to end the Highlanders season and advance to the JUCO College World Series which gets underway next weekend in Grand Junction, CO. After Chattanooga took a 1-0 first inning lead, Gordon scored four times in the bottom of the inning. The game went back and forth from that point until the Tigers took the lead in the eighth with three runs and then shut down the Highlanders over the final two innings to punch their ticket to Colorado. Gordon was led offensively by sophomore third baseman and leadoff hitter Aaron Dobbs who had three hits in the contest. 17th ranked Gordon ends its season with an impressive 41-23 record while 11th ranked Chattanooga (37-14) gets ready to play Hutchinson (KS) Community College in the first round of the JUCO World Series next Saturday.
