For reprint permission, e-mail news@barnesville.com.***************Landing Franklin Stephens, who reportedly played college ball at Georgia Southern with LCCHS principal Derick Austin, would be a coup for Lamar.Stephens took over the Tucker program in 2007 and promptly went 13-1, losing to eventual state champion Northside Warner Robins in the semifinals. In 2008, his Tigers went 14-1 and won the state title. In 2009, his team went 9-3. They followed that with another trip to the semis in 2010 with a 13-1 mark and then won it all last year, finishing 15-0. Stephens’ overall record at the metro Atlanta school is 64-5.The school system is accepting applications for the coaching position. There are reports that Stephens has applied. Austin is running the search.
