The LC Lady Trojans won four straight games, three of them region contests, last week to run their record to 19-4 overall and 6-1 in region play. Coach Adam Ballard’s young squad is on an eight-game winning streak.
Last Tuesday, LC topped Putnam County 61-55 here. Freshman sensation Jaziyah Foster led the team with 18 points and six steals. Ella Bleu Leverett had eight rebounds. Makayla Watts dished out six assists.
On Wednesday, LC topped Jasper County 65-42 on the home court. Leverett had a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds. Foster was her usual stellar self with 26 points and five steals. Watts dealt out 11 assists.
On Friday, LC hosted McNair and routed the visitors 64-26. Foster had 20 points. Watts had seven assists, Briana Jackson had four rebounds and Ava Bushby led the squad with four steals.
On Saturday, the Lady Trojans went to Upson-Lee and handed the Lady Knights a 53-42 loss. Stats from that game were not available at press time Monday.
Lamar hosts the region’s top team Southwest Atlanta Christian (19-1, 7-0) tonight in the regular season finale. The result will determine the top seed going into the region playoffs which begin here Feb. 13.
TROJANS:
Conversely, the Trojans have lost seven of their last eight and are now 7-16 overall and 2-6 in region play. No stats were provided from last week’s action. The Trojans lost to Putnam County 92-67, Jasper County 73-42, McNair 72-66 and Upson-Lee 65-36.
