Prior to the game, the stadium announcer had everyone stand for the National Anthem. After a few minutes of silence and garbled noise coming from the loud speakers, the announcer declared that there would be no Anthem. As the fans started to sit down and get ready for football action, a group of Lamar County fans started singing the Anthem. Pretty soon everyone in the stands on Lamar County’s side was standing and singing LOUDLY and PROUDLY. The song could be heard clearly throughout the stadium and everyone there took notice. When it was over, the Upson-Lee fans gave the Lamar County fans a standing ovation for their efforts. To put the icing on the cake, the Trojans beat the Knights 37-0. I love this town!!!
