The Lamar County soccer teams will host first round games in the GHSA state playoffs Thursday and Friday at Trojan Field. The Trojans (11-3) welcome Vidalia (6-8-1) Thursday at 5 p.m. The Lady Trojans (12-3-1) usher in Toombs County (0-9) at 6 p.m. Friday. (Yes, we, too, are wondering how an 0-9 team made the playoffs.) UPDATE: Thanks to Coach Wayne Calvert, Toombs Co.’s record is no longer a mystery… ”To explain Toombs County’s 0-9 record: Most schools post their schedules and results on http://www.eurosportscoreboard.com but they are not required to do so. Toombs has not updated their scores this season. If you look at the names of people posting scores,it’s people affiliated with their opponent. Actually, there are four schools in their region that have not updated their scores. I do not have their actual “official” record, but I do know they are at least 6-9. They have to play everyone in their region twice and they beat Atkinson County, Metter, and Bryan County twice to take the four seed in their region,” Calvert reported.
