Trojan sprinters shatter 18-year-old 4×100 relay record

The Lamar County 4×100 relay team is on fire at the state track meet in Jefferson. In a preliminary heat, the Trojan squad – made up of (in the order they get the baton) Lawrence Austin, Lance Austin, Qua Searcy and Ray Lyons – ran a 41.51, shattering the old record of 41.65 set by Elbert County in 1996. UPDATE: Lance Austin qualified for the finals in the 100 meters with the meet’s second best time in the prelims. Lawrence Austin qualified for the finals in the 110-meter hurdles with the meet’s best prelim time of 14.51. Still to come are prelims in other track events.
