The Lamar County Trojans advanced to round two of the GHSA Class AA state soccer tournament Friday night with a dramatic win in PKs over Jefferson County. The teams played to a scoreless tie after 80 minutes of regulation play. The match remained 0-0 after two, five-minute overtimes before going to a penalty kick shootout. The Trojans outshot the visitors 3-1 to earn a 1-0 win. Chase Bennett, Jacob Mason and Steve Lopez each netted PK goals while Cullen Bennett was strong in the net for LC. Lamar will travel to Greater Atlanta Christian for round two action May 6.
