The Lamar County Trojans routed the Macon County Bulldogs in Montezuma Friday night to advance in the Region 5AA basketball tournament. Meanwhile, the Lady Trojans failed late as they lost to MCHS. The Trojans started slow but pulled away to a 55-37 win. Kendrick Cheeves and Damien Battle had 12 points each to lead Lamar. Adrian Butler added nine points for Lamar, Camden Foster had eight and Rodnique Brown had seven. Other Lamar scorers were Maurice Bloodser (4), Lekevious Lyons (2) and Jadarious McCalla (1). In the girls game, Lamar started strong but got outscored 15-6 in the third period and could not recover as they fell 47-39. Leeann Harris led Lamar with 13 points while Aja Johnson had 11. Other Lady Trojan scorers were Breasha Brown (5), Kenji Sullivan (4) and Tamara Watts, Madison Bignardi and Candace Blount with two each.
