Coach Prelvis Paster’s Lamar County Trojans defeated the East Laurens Falcons 77-71 Tuesday night at the LC gym to advance to the Sweet 16 round of the GHSA Class AA state basketball tournament.UPDATE: The Trojans will play at Pace Academy at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.The Trojans built a 10-point lead in the final period but wilted somewhat under the Falcon press. Freshman guard Brice Paster hit six straight free throws down the stretch to propel the Trojans into the next round.The game was tied 22-22 after the first period and Lamar held a narrow 42-39 lead at the half. The locals were up 57-49 before the chaotic fourth period saw their lead diminish until Paster took charge.The Trojans will play Pace Academy Saturday. The time has yet to be determined.
