Trojans’ game ball to arrive by parachute

At the Friday, Aug. 14 scrimmage game against Rutland, Fort Benning’s official parachute demonstration team – the Silver Wings – will jump into Trojan Field at approximately 6:30 p.m., demonstrating their elite parachuting skills while delivering the game ball to Trojan head coach Jason Strickland at the 50 yard line. Dr. Todd Shipp, assistant principal at the high school and an Army lieutenant colonel, helped arrange for the Silver Wings to perform here at no cost to the school system. Shipp is Airborne qualified but will not be jumping. The Silver Wings will do multiple, tandem jumps as a narrator talks over the PA system to the audience, describing what each jumper will do. The narrator will introduce the jumpers as they land. Kickoff for the scrimmage, the final tune-up before regular season play, is set for 7 p.m.
