Lamar County will face Greene County for the third time in 11 days when the Trojans and Tigers meet in the semi-final round of the Region 4AA basketball tournament. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at Northeast High School in Macon. Lamar beat Greene 63-57 last Tuesday in Greensboro before closing out the regular season with a 60-37 win over the Tigers at home on Saturday. The Trojans, now a school best 23-2 and winners of 11 straight, beat Monticello 79-56 Wednesday to reach the semi-finals while Greene County (15-10) knocked off Crawford County 80-52. The Tigers are the only team in the region to have beaten Northeast this year. The winner of today’s game advances to the championship game Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. against the winner of tonight’s Northeast/Pike game (8:30 p.m.). The two losers today will face Saturday at 5:30 p.m. for third and fourth seed in the state tournament. Today’s girls’ semi-final games include Morgan County vs. Greene County at four o’clock and Northeast vs. Putnam County at 7 p.m.
