Trojans move to top of polls

By Ken K. Green Following Friday’s 41-14 thrashing of Pike County, coupled with Calhoun’s 42-7 loss to AAAA’s number two ranked Carrollton, the Lamar County Trojans are the new top ranked team in the state in Class AA in this week’s Atlanta Journal Constitution high school football top ten. This is the first time in school history any Lamar County team has ever been ranked number one. The rest of the poll includes (2) Lovett, (3) Greater Atlanta Christian, (4) Jefferson, (5) Washington Wilkes, (6) Calhoun, (7) Vidalia, (8) Brooks County, (9) Benedictine and Lamar’s Region 4-AA foe (10) Macon County. The Trojans are off this week and open defense of their region title against Taylor County next Friday at Thunder Alley.
