Trojans regroup, win ugly

The #7 Lamar County Trojans started fast then cooled with the weather in the second half before rallying to defeat the Monticello Hurricanes Friday night at Trojan Field. Lamar had two sure TD passes on deep routes dropped by receivers in the first half. TDs on those failed opportunities could have blown the game open. Meanwhile, the ‘Canes, led by quarterback Thomas Deraney, played their best game of the season. Deraney said after the game he was related on “my Dad’s side” to the late Joe Deraney and Mable Deraney who operated a department store in downtown Barnesville for generations.
