Trojans right ship with two wins; Lady Trojans move to #7

The Lamar County Trojans halted their losing streak with two wins last week and remain hopeful of earning a playoff spot as they ran their region record to 2-1 last week. Coach James Horne’s team is 4-7 overall after last week’s resurgence. LC opened the week Tuesday with a narrow, 2-1 win over Dublin at Trojan Field. Antonio Williams and Bryce Gardner notched goals for the Trojans. On Thursday, LC traveled to Cochran and blew out the Bleckley County Royals 5-0 in a region contest. Williams and Chandler Francis had two goals each while Jacob Seo added one. Meanwhile, the Lady Trojans moved from #8 to #7 in the eurosports.com. Top 10 as they routed the Lady Irish of Dublin 10-0 and knocked the polish off the crowns of the Lady Royals of Bleckley County, also by a 10-0 margin. Lamar closed out Tuesday’s win over Dublin via mercy rule with about four minutes left in the game. Scoring for Wayne Calvert’s club were Katie Jo Daniel, Sydney Tenney, Brailey Davis, Alexis Bedgood and Jordan Mapp. In Cochran Thursday, LC wasted no time in blasting Bleckley whom they had beaten 3-0 earlier in the season. Lamar went ahead early and won going away as Bleckley never really threatened in the match. Bedgood, Daniel, Tenney and Davis were the scorers for Wayne Calvert’s team in the region victory. The Lady Trojans are now 9-3 overall and 4-0 in region competition. The LC teams have key region games this week as they travel to Macon County today and host Monticello Thursday. The Maco girls are 0-4 overall and 0-2 in region competition. The Maco boys’record was unavailable at presstime Monday. The Monticello Hurricanes are 4-6 overall and 1-0 in region play while the Lady ‘˜Canes are struggling at 0-6 overall and 0-1 in region play.
