Although no score was kept, fans got a chance to see what to expect out of the 2011 Trojans as Lamar County closed out its week-long football camp with the annual Soap Game intra squad scrimmage Friday night at Trojan Field. What they saw was speed to burn out of the new wing-T offense and a young but very aggressive defense. The blazing speed was provided by quarterback Maurice Bloodser, wing backs Lawrence Austin, Lance Austin and Jeremy Fletcher and wide outs Quay Searcy and Sidarious Gotell. On defense, linebackers Nicolas Heminger and Shavontae Harris and down linemen Joe Peters and Frederick Walker wreaked havoc. The massive Walker, a Division I college prospect, had to be moved two yards off the ball from his nose tackle position to give the offense a chance to get plays off.Trojan coach Jason Strickland was pleased with the team’s efforts the entire week. ‘The guys really pushed themselves and are getting ready to get into the regular season,’ he said.
