Trojans start the week with a win

The Trojan Baseball Team(s) traveled to Region 2A-A Hawkinsville on Monday, 3/23/09, for a Varsity / JV doubleheader with the Red Devils. In the two games that were played, the Trojans outscored the Red Devils to the tune of 19-to-5. The JV — coached by Dave Mckenna — prevailed on the front-end of the DH by a score of 6-2. That game was called after 5-innings of play due to time constraints, that were related to getting the Varsity Teams on the field for their 6:00 p.m. start. Things got even better in the nightcap, when the Trojans Varsity — coached by Greg Williams — took care of business by distancing themselves from the Red Devils Varsity with a 13-3 shellacking. The Trojans scored 13-runs on 14-hits, committed 2-errors, left 8-men on-base, & earned-10 of their 13-runs. Senior Pitcher — Calvin Adams — once again led the Trojans on the mound, and at the plate. Adams only allowed one earned run in 7-innings of work on the mound, and went 3/4 at the plate to help his own cause in the game. Two of the three runs that the Red Devils scored were of the unearned-variety, and came as a result of 2-errors committed by the Trojans defense. However, there was a couple of nifty double-plays turned by the Trojans infielders, that took any hope that the Red Devils had of making a game out of it, right out of the window with them. All-in-all, it was just a great night of baseball for the coaches and the players… Other players — in addition to Adams — getting in on the offensive fireworks were Trent Nix, Blane Parker, Michael Sneed, T.J. English, & Devin Couch. All had multiple hit games… The Trojans return to action on Tuesday — 3/24 — when they travel to Region 5-AA opponent Manchester for a 4:00 p.m. contest. The Trojans enjoyed support at the game in Hawkinsville from a good number of Lamar Co. Fans that made the trip down there to witness the victories… Lamar Co. 13-14-2 Hawkinsville 3-4-3
