The Lamar County Trojans stunned the top-seeded Spencer Owls Saturday night and will play for the region 5AA title Monday night. Coach Gregory Freeman’s Trojans beat Spencer 48-46 and will play the third-seeded Callaway Cavaliers for the region crown. Tip-off is at 8:30 p.m. Monday at Crawford County High School in Roberta. The Cavaliers, who beat second-seeded Manchester 56-52 to advance to the title, are led by junior guard Quan Bray. Bray, an exceptional athlete, already has football offers to play running back from every school in the SEC. The Trojans (16-10) will move on to the GHSA Class AA state tournament as either a #1 or #2 seed, depending on the outcome of Monday night’s game.
