By Ken K. GreenEager to kick off the regular season, the Lamar County Trojans travel to Cochran Friday to open up against Bleckley County. The Trojans will also be looking to avenge last year’s season opening loss to the Royals at home. This year’s task may be a taller order as not only do the Trojans have to travel below the gnat-line to play in the latter dog days of August, they will face what many in Region 3-AA believe to be the best Bleckley County team since 2006 when they made a run to the state quarterfinals. The Royals are led offensively by 6′ 1’, 190 pound quarterback Tavon Ross who runs the spread offense behind a huge line. Ross, one of many talented skill players for Bleckley, will try to create situations for himself to carry the football.
