Trojans top Warhawks in preseason tune-up

Lamar County outlasted Henry County Friday night at Trojan Field as the Trojans took an 18-13 win over the Warhawks in prep football pre-season action. Lamar got on the board first on an 18 yard touchdown pass from Maurice Bloodser to Quay Searcy. Henry cut the lead in half just before halftime with a 29 yard field goal and tied the score midway through the third quarter with a 33 yard field goal. The Trojans then scored two unanswered touchdowns on a 17 yard pass from Lance Austin to Jarvis Merritt and a one yard run by Austin who took over at quarterback in the second half after Bloodser suffered a minor shoulder injury. The Warhawks made a game of it scoring on a 55 yard run with 2:20 remaining but a furious but futile attempt to win the game in the waning seconds came up short. Lamar now has two weeks to prepare for their regular season opener Friday, August 27 against Bleckley County at Trojan Field.
