The Lady Trojan volleyball team travels to Locust Grove today for important area matches against Strong Rock Christian and Heard County. Lamar County is 7-7 for the season and 4-2 in 3-A/AA play after going 3-4 in their last six matches.The Lady Trojans lost four in a row before bouncing back to take three straight. The losses came against Landmark Christian 0-2 (5-25, 8-25), third ranked Eagle’s Landing Christian 0-2 (5-25, 14-25) in area matches then to Kendrick 0-2 (5-25, 7-25) and Callaway 0-2 (7-25, 11-25) in non-area play. Lamar then swept a pair of area matches from Greenforest Christian 2-1 (21-25, 25-12, 25-20) and Jackson (Atlanta) 2-0 (25-12, 25-11) and outlasted non-area rival Upson-Lee in a best of three match 3-2 (20-25, 25-19, 24-26, 25-16, 15-8).Today’s matches could go a long way in determining whether Lamar finishes second in the sub-area going into the 3-A/AA tournament beginning Oct. 4. The Lady Trojans next and final home matches are next Tuesday when they host Greenville and Upson-Lee.
