The Lamar County Board of Education has posted its school superintendent position as being open and has hired a consulting firm to screen candidates. Current superintendent Dr. Bill Truby confirmed Wednesday morning that he is retiring. The following notice appears on the school website: The Lamar County Board of Education, Barnesville, Georgia, is seeking a new superintendent. The system enrollment is 2600 (K-12) with four schools. King-Cooper and Associates will assist the Board of Education with the search for the new superintendent.
