At approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday, a late model red Toyata Tacoma pickup was stopped at the entrance to Fuller’s Trailer Park preparing to turn right and head west on the 36 bypass when it was struck by an oncoming tractor trailer bearing Michigan plates. The impact pushed the pickup nearly 25 feet up an embankment, totaling it.. The truck driver slammed on the brakes and finally stopped some 125 feet away on the bypass. The driver of the pickup – an elderly man – was attended by Mid Georgia paramedics at the scene but declined transport. On the scene were Lamar County sheriff’s deputies, Lamar County Fire & Rescue personnel and troopers from the Georgia State Patrol. More details as they develop.
