Two black males have been arrested in connection with a 12:30 a.m. shooting early Saturday morning that killed at Griffin High football player and wounded a LCHS senior who was to march with the Class of 2016 Saturday morning.Butts County sheriff Gary Long said his investigators had worked tirelessly since the shooting and that work resulted in the arrest of two men who are in the Butts County jail on charges of murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The suspects were identified as Gemarius ‘Gee’ Oneal, 19, of Griffin and Christopher ‘Ray Ray’ Walker, 19, of Flovilla.Long said he expects more arrests to follow.The shooting at a graduation party on Levi Barnes Rd. resulted in the death of 16-year-old Griffin High football player Cederrius Hastings. He died after transport to Atlanta Medical Center.LC senior Kodaidra Hamm was wounded and is hospitalized in Macon. She is in extensive pain and may or may not be able to walk in the graduation ceremony Saturday. Two others were also wounded.Sheriff Long also refuted reports the shooting was gang-related.”My office has received questions about this shooting being gang related. Our Investigation has revealed this shooting was not gang related. This was student athletes from Jackson and Griffin fighting when the shots were fired unfortunately striking the four victims. I ask everyone to keep the families affected by this senseless act of violence in your thoughts and prayers,” Long said.
