UPDATE: (from the Monroe County Reporter): The victims in this accident have been identified as Angela Place, 33, of 261 Blount Road, Forsyth and Daniel Echevarria, 42, of 615 Hickory Ridge Road, Jackson. Two people are dead after a car accident last night on Hwy 42. north in northern Monroe County. A call to the E-911 center at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office early this morning around 1:39 a.m. advised that a car was on fire on Hwy. 42 N. A deputy was dispatched to that location and en-route was informed that there appeared to be people inside the car which was engulfed in flames. A preliminary investigation has revealed that the car, a Pontiac GTO, apparently left the roadway in a curve, struck an oak tree, and caught fire. It appears there were were two people in the car. The bodies have been taken to the GBI Crime Lab for identification. At this time, the MCSO does not know the identification of the two people who were in the car. It is not known how long it may take the crime lab to identify the bodies. The case continues to be investigated.
