Two held on weapons charges have been released

Reports of two men with at least one assault rifle triggered a massive law enforcement response to the area of Cook Road and County Line Road just after noon August 11. Two men were handcuffed and placed into patrol cars after a female resident in the area claimed they pointed an assault rifle at her. Search warrants were obtained for a residence near where the men were taken into custody. Major Brad White of the LCSO said one of the men was a known felon who is not allowed to possess firearms. Officers from the Milner and Griffin police departments joined deputies from Spalding County and Narcotics Task Force in responding to the scene in support of the Lamar deputies there. There were no injuries reported. After warrants were taken, the home was searched and no weapons were found. The two men were released without being charged.
