Two people were seriously injured and a third shaken up after yet another high-impact collision at the ever-dangerous intersection of highways 341 and 18 in Barnesville Thursday.The most seriously injured victim in the 2:15 p.m. crash was lifeflighted with what appeared to be head injuries after being extricated from the Ford Ranger pickup in which he was a passenger.According to witnesses, a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup which was northbound on Hwy. 341 ran the stop light at the intersection and struck a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado which was westbound on Hwy. 18 and crossing with the light. The Ford truck then went airborne and flipped at least twice before coming to rest in the median near Wendy’s.The driver of the Ranger, 63-year-old James Franklin McDaniel of Thomaston had to be extricated from the truck. He was lifeflighted to Grady Hospital in Atlanta. No condition report on him is available.His passenger, Karen Goins of The Rock, was also badly hurt and taken to Macon Medical Center by ambulance. We are attempting to learn her condition.The driver of the Chevy was shaken up and taken to Upson Regional Medical Center as a precaution.
