Two killed in I-75 crash; victims identified

An early Sunday crash on I-75 resulted in two fatalities. Both victims were from Forsyth. Two people were killed and two people were injured in an early morning traffic accident on I-75 in Monroe County today, November 3, 2013. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a call this morning shortly after 5:00 a.m. that a Ford Crown Victoria was overturned in the median near the Pate Road exit, northbound. All four people in the car were ejected. The two injured individuals were transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Once the next-of-kin notification is verified, names of the individuals involved in the accident will be released. UPDATE: Two men from Forsyth were killed today, November 3, 2013, and two others injured after a one vehicle accident on I-75 northbound near Pate Road in Monroe County. The preliminary investigation indicates that the accident occurred around 5:00 a.m. under the Pate Road overpass when the right rear tire of a white Ford Crown Vic blew causing the car to pull right towards the emergency lane. The driver, Eddrick Deon Goddard, 20 years old, then lost control of the car. The car hit the guardrail and flipped several times before eventually coming to rest upside down in the median. The passengers, Shavar Antwon Traylor, 30 years old, Reginald Arneze Patterson, Jr., 20 years old, and Jarvis Terrell Dumas, 22 years old, were ejected from the vehicle along with the driver. Patterson and Dumas were pronounced dead at the scene and Goddard and Traylor were transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia with non-life-threatening injuries. Seat belts were not in use at the time of the accident. Interstate 75 was closed for several hours this morning as the accident was investigation and cleared. No charges are expected and the accident remains under investigation. Allison Selman-Willis, MCSO.
