Two of three Lamar softball teams won first round games Thursday in Milledgeville. UPDATE: The U8 Stars tied for third place in the tournament and won the Sportsmanship Award. The U10 Stars were in a three-way tie for first place, resulting in pulling names of teams that had a bye for the championship game. Therefore, they are considered state runners-up. They received team and individual trophies. The U12 Stars were eliminated in the second round after losing their first two games. The Lamar U8 Stars, coached by Ryran Traylor, defeated Baconton 14-3, run-ruling their opponents before inclement weather set in. Traylor said his team went on “an incredible hitting spree”. The U10 Stars defeated Jones County. The U12 Stars lost. Action continues in Milledgeville Friday.
