The undefeated Lamar County Trojans have cracked the Associated Press and Maxpreps.com Class AA top ten coming in at number ten in both polls this week.A spot opened in both polls this week when Lovett was upset by Blessed Trinity last Friday. Lamar was edged out of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s weekly poll by North Oconee who finished just behind the Trojans in the AP and Maxpreps polls.The Class AA top ten includes, in order: Buford, Calhoun, Greater Atlanta Christian, Carver (Columbus), Dublin, Elbert County, Fitzgerald, Brooks County and Appling County.The Trojans, who do not play this week, are ranked in the top ten for the first time since 2002 when they went 9-0 in winning the region before falling in the first round of the state playoffs to finish 10th in the final AJC poll after being ranked as high as number seven. Lamar’s highest ranking in school history was in 1985 when ranked number two in the AJC pre-season poll but lost two of its first four games on the way to a 7-4 season disappearing from the poll after week four.
